My partner and I have just moved to Oslo and we've brought our 1985 T3 Westfalia Joker with us. We can't wait to get out exploring, but first of all I need to buy a new set of wheels with winter tires on. I don't need anything unusual, just some steel rims with reasonable quality Nordic winter tires, but none of the websites I've looked at so far (e.g. here) have anything suitable.
I've just started learning Norwegian, so perhaps I'm missing something obvious on these websites? Can anyone recommend a website or a company near Oslo that can supply suitable wheels (rims + tires), please? I believe the original specifications are:
Rims: 5.5Jx14 ET35 (with a 5x112 bolt pattern)
Tires: 185/80 R14 C
Although my van currently has 205/80 R14 C tires fitted and they seem to be fine.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for good garages and sources of parts for T3s in the Oslo area? I like to do most of the work on the van myself, but my flat doesn't have a garage and I'm a soft southerner, so lying in the snow with my legs sticking out into the road isn't very appealing
Will most Norwegian garages be familiar with old vans like these, or do I need to find a specialist? Thanks in advance for any advice! I hope I'll be able to contribute to the Norsk section of the forum eventually. I've already learned a valuable lesson in Norwegian just by registering here: the "anti-spam" question on the registration page ("Hvilket pålegg er typisk norsk? [Hint: Det begynner på b og slutter på ost]") had me puzzled for a while
