4Motion problem
Hi Guys not sure of anyone has encountered this problem before but the esp light has come on on the dashboard of my 09 2.5 4mo, and the car has started behaving like a 2wd. Problem is solved instantly you turn off the car, but after some driving light comes on again and same symptoms? Dont know much about the 4wd system (nothing) but wondering if the 4wd (Haldex) is electronically controlled and there is a problem with the control unit. Any suggestions welcome. Have not done any diagnosis as its far too cold and there is way to much skiing to do. Thanks in advance for any advice, cheers Jim

Re: 4Motion problem
Today I got a chance to plug in the fault code reader and I found I have fault codes in the ABS system and AWD system the codes are:
ABS 00688 (possibly a short to the haldex control module?)
ABS 01324 (believe this is the haldex control module?)
AWD 00448 (believe this is the haldex clutch pump?)
I have done a little research on the UK forums and it seems the Haldex is a common fault on these. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? Which parts to change, and advice on where to get parts in Norway? It seams there is allot of 4motion transporters in Norway, so much so that allot of UK guys buy used haldex parts here, as in the UK there is very few 4 motions. Any advice much appreciated, regards Jim

00448 - Haldex Clutch Pump (V181)
Hi Jim.
Check the possible solutions listed in the links above.
You might have a faulty pump or possible electrical wiring issues.

Re: 4Motion problem
Hi Guys so did a bit of research, (asked Moller bill and some UK specialists) and decided to change the Haldex pump. Moller bill believe this is the problem, but the UK specialists believe its the control unit. So long story short 6 hours later I have dropped the rear diff and got everything disconnected (On the ground outside in winter was great fun:-). In the morning I will mount the new pump and get it all back together. Was a PITA access and some stubborn bolts. Very simple job to change the pump once the diff was down! But allot of labour getting the diff down. If I had the choice I would have liked to completely remove the diff as its simply more pleasant to work on it beside the van rather then under it. I got everything else off except I couldn't get the prop shafts off. I obviously undone the bolts on the UJ´s but they still would not separate. Does anyone have any ideas how they separate? I did start beating on the joints but they were stubborn to move. Also as well as electrical connectors it seamed like there were a couple of other plastic hose like fittings on the diff, anyone know what they are?
Once I get it back together I will let folks know if the fault has gone.....fingers crossed! If it hasn't the next thing will be to get the Control unit (ECU) repaired, which means sending it back to the UK to these guys: http://www.autofaultfinder.com/vw-audi- ... pecialist/
I hope it doesn't go that far though as it means i will be without the car for a few weeks..... 10% the cost to get it repaired though in UK rather then buying a new one from Moller. They quoted 13500nok for the ECU!!!! I have bought car engines for less!
Cheers in advance for any help.

I believe that AWD is a different technique than 4Motion.
